Five-day holidays expected as Eid-ul-Adha likely on May 27

ISLAMABAD: This year, Eid-ul-Adha is expected to fall on Wednesday, May 27, and 5-day holidays will likely be given on the occasion of Eid this year.

Since the holidays are linked to the weekend, employees will be able to rest continuously from Wednesday to Sunday.

According to media reports, the first night of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 AH is expected to fall on May 17 or 18, in view of which Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated from May 27 to 29; however, the final announcement will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

In connection with the preparations for Eid, cattle markets have started to be established in various cities. Traders have started bringing sacrificial animals in Karachi’s North Bypass and Lahore’s Shahpur Kanjra.

This year, there has also been an increase in the prices of cattle, which are 15 to 20 percent higher than last year. The main reason for this increase is being attributed to the rising prices of fodder and food.
