ISLAMABAD: The city district administration has confirmed the locations for the cattle markets for Eid ul-Azha 2025 to help facilitate the flow of people and livestock.

The locations of five cattle markets are within a minimal area of the city to limit the disturbance to residential areas.

A meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon. The chairs included several assistant commissioners in attendance (with your report) and the Director of the Metropolitan Corporation (DMA).

The district authorities have also established five cattle points for the purchase of animals for Eid al-Adha.

The sale points include Sangjani, Sector I-15, Bhara Kahu, Lehtrar Road, and along the Islamabad Expressway, and these points will be operational from 1st of Dhu al-hijjah to 13th of Dhu al-hijjah, while Tender notices for these markets have already been issued. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said.

The city authorities have tasked monitoring teams to ensure the removal of illegal cattle points in the city, as it lead to sanitation issues and creates inconvenience for residents.

Before the formal opening dates, the government had made it plain that no cattle sales or purchases would be permitted. Any market established outside of these permitted areas would be deemed unlawful.

Basic amenities including power, clean water, and designated entry and departure points will be provided by each authorized market. Health teams will also be present to check the animals and ensure safe trade.

An ICT official stated that the actions are intended to control the animal trade and preserve public order and cleanliness over the Eid season.
