Eid ul Azha brings five-day holiday THIS year in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Federal government employees will enjoy a five-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha 2024, with vacations from June 15 to 19.

The moon was sighted in Pakistan on Friday evening, marking the start of the Arabic month of Zilhaj on Saturday.

Consequently, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 17, the 10th of Zilhaj.

Public holidays have been declared for June 17, 18, and 19. Additionally, June 15 and 16 fall on the weekend, thus extending the holiday period. Therefore, government employees will begin their leave on June 15 and return to work on June 20.

During the Eid holidays, a significant number of people travel from Islamabad to their homes to celebrate with their loved ones.

It is anticipated that many government officials and employees will start their leave on Friday to ensure timely travel for Eid celebrations.

Government offices will resume regular hours from June 20, with officials working from 9am to 5pm as usual.
