MUAFFARABAD: The Azad Kashmir Police has set up a special monitoring cell to monitor social media activities related to the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
According to the notification issued, it has been decided to keep a close watch on the online activities of social media users, including Kashmiris living abroad.
According to the notification, the purpose of the social media monitoring cell established in Police Region Poonch Rawalakot is to monitor alleged hateful, inflammatory, and objectionable content against the state and state institutions.
Officials say that content shared in support of the banned Joint Public Action Committee will also be reviewed.
The police department has formed an 8-member special committee for this purpose.
Inspector Rafaqat Ilyas has been appointed as the in-charge of the monitoring cell, while Sub-Inspector Muhammad Idrees has been appointed as the deputy in-charge.
The notification states that the details of social media accounts uploading objectionable content will be compiled and sent to the concerned authorities.
Instructions have also been issued to make the monitoring of social media platforms more effective after the complete restoration of internet services.
According to police officials, action will be taken against alleged anti-state content and hateful posts against state institutions as per the law.
