Islamabad: The Election Commission has given the date of general elections in the country on February 11.

In the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the case of conducting general elections in 90 days was heard, in this regard, Election Commission lawyer Sujeel Swati gave a statement in the court that the constituencies will be completed by November 30 and the elections should be held on February 11.

The Supreme Court has expressed its anger on the Election Commission for not consulting the President of the country before giving the date of February 11 for the upcoming general elections.

During the ongoing hearing of the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa on holding general elections in the Supreme Court in 90 days. Informing the date of the elections, Sujeel Swati told the Supreme Court that general elections will be held on February 11 across the country.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa inquired whether the President of the State Dr. Arif Alvi was taken on board before announcing the date of the election, to which the Election Commission lawyer said that we are not bound to take the President on board.

The court got angry with the Election Commission’s response and the Chief Justice said that in civilized societies, decisions are made through discussion. Why is the Election Commission hesitant to consult President of Pakistan in this matter?

The Chief Justice said that the Election Commission should talk with the President, we will wait for the answer, does anyone have any objection to consult with the President of the Election Commission.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that we will not take anyone’s role, but we want those who have the responsibility to fulfill it, we want to end a dispute that general elections should be held in the country, but when are the elections to be held?

Constitutional players have to decide. PTI’s counsel said we have no objection while the Attorney General said what objection could be raised.
