ISLAMABAD: The current price of electricity is likely to decrease by another Rs 0.77, including tax per unit.
The reduction will be received in the form of a fourth-quarter and fuel price adjustment.
The application for the fourth quarter adjustment of last year, 2024-25, was submitted to NEPRA by the electricity distribution companies.
NEPRA heard this application on August 4, 2025. According to the hearing, this quarterly adjustment is expected to be returned at the rate of negative Rs 1.89 per unit in the bills of August, September and October.
The main reason for the negative quarterly adjustment is the amendment agreement with the power generation companies and the additional electricity demand, which was possible due to the reduction in tariffs and the transfer of captive power plants.
Thus, there will be a further reduction of Rs 0.34 per unit in the bills of August in the form of a quarterly adjustment.
The application for fuel price adjustment for June 2025 was submitted by the CPPA to NEPRA on 16 July 2025 on behalf of the electricity distribution companies. NEPRA heard this application on 03 July 2025.
As per the hearing, a reduction of Rs 0.78 per unit is expected in terms of fuel price adjustment, which will be applicable in the bills of August.
Negative Rs 0.50 per unit of fuel price adjustment has been returned to the consumers in the bills of July.
Thus, a reduction of Rs 0.28 per unit in terms of fuel price adjustment is expected in the bills of August.
