Fact Check: Govt announces Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from April 9-12 in Pakistan?

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced 4-day holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2024.

The notification claims that the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will be from April 9 to April 12 (Tuesday to Friday).

Sources privy to the information have told Daily Ausaf that the notification circulating online is incorrect as the government has not announced the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

People are requested to avoid sharing fake notifications on WhatsApp groups and social sites.

Eid al-Fitr is an important festival in the Islamic calendar, celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Muslims around the world fast for a month and Eid celebrations mark the end of this period of self-restraint.

This year, Eid is likely to fall on April 10, depending on the sighting of the moon.
