Faiz’s brother Najaf Hameed booked in land forgery case
LAHORE: The former three-star general Faiz Hameed, who was at the helm of Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence, is in more trouble after his sentencing.
While he is having his own legal troubles, his brother Najaf Hameed has been under the scanner of the Federal Investigation Agency, Islamabad, now.
He faces grave charges of forgery, fraud, and misusing authority.
Accordingly, Najaf Hameed was a Patwari posted in Islamabad, who allegedly transferred one kanal of highly valuable government and private land with the help of fake documents along with the revenue officers Abdul Zahoor and Khalid Munir.
It came to light when the FIA was investigating land records in the Islamabad Patwari Circle, where officials unearthed an organized scheme of fake registries and sham transfers.
The stunning aspect was that the actual transferred land was one kanal, while the fraudulent documents recorded a transfer of only 10 marlas, concealing the extent of the crime.
The case stated that the forgery in the official land records occurred between 2009 and 2010, showing years of manipulation.
Sections relevant to forgery and abuse of authority have been invoked under the Pakistan Penal Code, and a full-scale investigation by the FIA has been launched, scrutinizing records for other accomplices.
This is an explosive case that raises questions about high-level collusion in Islamabad’s land administration; it has sent ripples through both government and public circles.
