Karachi: Mustafa Kamal, Senior Deputy Convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has acknowledged the authenticity of an audio clip circulating on social media, asserting that it reveals nothing new regarding his party’s rivals’ allegations of a “fake mandate.”

In the leaked audio, Kamal discusses a meeting between MQM-P and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, where discussions centered on government formation. Kamal recounted that during the meeting, PML-N representatives hinted at sidelining MQM-P based on assertions from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) regarding the alleged falsity of MQM-P’s mandate.

Confirming the audio’s legitimacy in a video statement, Kamal clarified that the content merely echoed public statements made by both MQM-P and PPP regarding each other’s mandates.

Furthermore, Kamal highlighted the significance of the leaked audio, emphasizing that it was shared during a meeting of the MQM-P Rabita Committee and suggesting suspicions of infiltration by members associated with MQM-London.

Concluding his remarks, Kamal attributed the leak to MQM-London, asserting their misguided belief in possessing incriminating evidence.

The leaked audio and Kamal’s subsequent confirmation underscore ongoing political tensions and maneuvering among major parties in Pakistan.
