Famous TikToker dies in traffic accident

MALAYSIA: Malaysian TikTok star Nurul Athira Auni Muhammad Hafizan, known by her online name Athira Auni, died in a motorcycle accident on January 3. The deceased was 21 years old.

Athira Auni had more than 77,000 followers on social media. She was known for her live streaming on TikTok and videos of herself flipping roti kani (traditional Indian flatbread) at her father’s food stall.

Police say Athira Auni was riding her motorcycle in the right lane when another motorcyclist hit her from behind at around 2:30 a.m. According to initial reports, the motorcyclist tried to save his vehicle, which led to the accident.

Athira Auni was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while the other motorcyclist sustained injuries to his hand, elbow and thigh and was treated at the Tungku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. The deceased’s body was also shifted to the same hospital for post-mortem.

Soon after Athira Auni’s death, her friend, who goes by the name @nauraa_517 on TikTok, shared a video of the deceased working at her father’s stall, in which Athira was making roti kani on her last day. The caption of the video read: “On Friday you asked me to make your roti kani video for the last time, as you knew you had to go that night.”
