ISLAMABAD: On February 5, Pakistan will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day to pay tribute to the Kashmiri people’s ongoing freedom struggle and great sacrifices against Indian rule and oppression. A public holiday will be observed across the country in this regard.
Rallies, walks, seminars and special prayer events will be organized across the country to express solidarity with the Kashmiris, while human chains will also be formed at various places as an expression of national solidarity.
The government has directed state institutions and the media to effectively highlight the Kashmir issue and increase awareness in this regard at the national and international levels.
Special programs will be broadcast on television and radio on this occasion, which will shed detailed light on the historical background and current situation of the Kashmir issue.
Strict security arrangements are likely to be made in major cities to ensure the peaceful conduct of Kashmir Solidarity Day, while law enforcement agencies will remain fully alert during rallies and public gatherings.
Political and religious leaders will address various events and reiterate their commitment that the Kashmir issue must be resolved in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
