ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released a list of 506,671 non-filers of income tax returns whose mobile phone SIMs would be blocked immediately by the PTA and all telecom operators.
The FBR on Tuesday issued an Income Tax General Order No. 01 of 2024, to enforce the filing of returns by persons who are not appearing in the list of active taxpayers but for the tax year 2023. are responsible for filing income tax returns. Provisions of Income Tax Ordinance 2001.
Non-filers of Income Tax returns can verify their names from the list of 50,6671 persons mentioned in Income Tax General Order No. 01 of 2024 available on the FBR website.

According to FBR, the Federal Board of Revenue in exercise of its powers under Section 114B of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 has issued this Income Tax General Order (ITGO) to refer individuals Mobile phone SIMs can be deactivated from who are not appearing in the list of active taxpayers but are liable to file income tax returns for the tax year 2023 under the provisions of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.

The mobile SIMs in respect of the said persons shall remain blocked until the jurisdiction of the person is restored by the FBR or the Commissioner of Inland Revenue.
PTA and all telecom operators are required to immediately ensure compliance of this ITGO.
The FBR further said that the compliance report in this regard is to be submitted to the FBR on May 15, 2024.
