ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday justified the increase in the salaries of the Chairman Senate, Deputy Chairman Senate, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker.

During the post-budget press conference in Islamabad, Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb was asked whether the salaries of the Chairman Senate, Deputy Chairman Senate, Speaker, and Deputy Speaker have been increased, to which Finance Minister replied that we should see that when the salaries of ministers, ministers of state, and parliamentarians were last increased.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the last increase in the salaries of cabinet ministers was in 2016. When we talk about increasing the salaries of government employees, then the salaries of ministers should also increase. He said that if the salaries kept increasing every year, there would be no need to increase them all at once.

Auranzaib said that I have not seen anything come down after going up. We have put something that had never been reversed into reversal. We have tried to reduce taxes.
