LAHORE: The Punjab government has issued directives to initiate admissions for first-year and third-year students prior to the announcement of matriculation and intermediate results.
This marks a significant departure from previous practices, as students can now apply for admission to government colleges even before their exam results are declared.
The objective behind this decision is to provide students with sufficient time to plan their educational paths without the added pressure of awaiting examination outcomes. According to the official notification, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) colleges have already commenced the admission process for first-year and third-year students, taking into consideration their academic performance in previous years.
Specifically, admission for the first year will be based on the results of Class 9, while admission for the third year will consider performance in the first year. This proactive approach not only streamlines the admission process but also empowers students to make informed decisions about their future academic endeavors.
