ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced three consecutive public holidays – October 14 to October 16 – in Islamabad and Rawalpinid, however, schools and colleges will observe two additional holidays.
Students of twin cities will enjoy two weekly holidays on October 12 and 13, which will be followed by three official holidays announced by the federal government in the wake of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Islamabad.
According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved three holidays on October 14, 15, and 16 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) within the territorial limits of Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi District.
“The Prime Minister has been pleased to declare three closed holidays to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government, the notification added.
Earlier, the federal government approved the deployment of the army in the federal capital to ensure security and maintain law and order ahead of the ahead of Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, scheduled on October 15 and 16.
