Three consecutive holidays in Islamabad, Rawalpindi for schools

Friday holiday abolished on demand of private schools

ISLAMABAD: After the district authorities announced a holiday in schools and colleges in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday (October 3) in the wake of the PTI protest, students will enjoy three consecutive holidays – October 4 till October 6 – in the twin cities.

Earlier, the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association of Northern Punjab announced the closure of schools in Rawalpindi due to the road blockages.

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has issued an official notice stating that the university has suspended all academic activities and transport services for today, October 4, 2024, due to the prevailing situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of PTI’s protest at D-Chowk.

Apart from the public holiday, the Metrobus service is also suspended in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Internet and mobile network services have been suspended in several cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest call.

Three holidays in Rawalpindi, Islamabad

As there is an official holiday in schools on Friday, it will be followed by two more weekly holidays. This will bring three consecutive holidays to school and college students. It means schools will reopen on October 7 (Monday) after three consecutive holidays.

According to the notification issued by the Qaid-e-Azam admin office, the university will remain closed for three consecutive days, including Saturday and Sunday, due to the weekend.
