LAHORE: In a recent weather update, a thick blanket of fog has descended upon the plains of Punjab, resulting in the closure of several sections of motorways and key routes leaving the commuters struggling.

According to reports, Lahore has been particularly affected, with visibility limited to just 100 meters in some areas due to which the Motorways and Highways authorities have been forced to shut down various sections of the motorway due to the poor visibility caused by the fog.

The Motorway Police has confirmed that the M-2 motorway has been closed from Lahore to Kot Momin, while the M-3 motorway has been closed from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem.

Additionally, the M-4 motorway section from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian and the M-5 motorway from Multan to Uch Sharif have also been closed due to the foggy conditions. The Lahore to Sialkot motorway, M-11, has also been closed until further notice.

The Motorways Police has advised drivers to exercise extreme caution while driving in the foggy conditions and to ensure that they use fog lights in their vehicles. The police have also warned drivers to reduce their speed and to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles on the road.

Meanwhile, the weather in Lahore has been quite chilly, with drizzle reported in some areas. The Met Office has forecast that the drizzle is likely to continue for the next 24 hours, with the foggy conditions expected to persist. The authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions while traveling and to stay safe during the inclement weather.

The closure of the motorways has caused inconvenience to many commuters, who have been forced to take alternative routes.

However, the authorities have taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the travelers, and the closure of the motorways is a precautionary measure to prevent any accidents.
