KARACHI: In a tragic event, the former Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice (R) Sarmad Jalal Usmani has passed away after a prolong battle with cancer.
The Supreme Court Karachi Registry has confirmed the death of former SC Judge Sarmad Jalal, he was 75 years old at the time of death.
According to the details, his funeral prayers will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) after Asr prayers at Hamza Masjid, DHA Phase 8, Karachi.
Justice (R) Usmani was renowned for his important contributions to Pakistan’s legal system and had distinguished himself in the judiciary.
In 1998, he was appointed as a judge of the Sindh High Court, where he heard cases in a variety of legal areas, such as banking, property, shipping, taxation, criminal cases, and constitutional issues.
He formerly taught LL.B. and LL.M. classes at Sindh Muslim Law College in Karachi from 1980 to 1982 and again from 1985 to 1998. International law, business law, contract law, and sales of goods were among his topics.
Sarfaraz Mehtab, the president of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, paid respect to the former judge’s contributions to the nation’s legal system and expressed sorrow over his passing.
