ISLAMABAD: In an attempt to combat tax evasion by exposing fraudulent receipts, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has brought back its Point of Sale (POS) reward program.

Customers are encouraged to shop at FBR-registered establishments that are linked to the authority’s online platform.

In exchange, they can enter a monthly fortunate draw to win cash prizes of between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000.

Purchase from FBR-Registered Shops: Purchases from restaurants that have integrated the FBR system and tier-one retailers are the only ones that qualify.

Prize Categories:

There are two categories under which public can get prize amount.

  • Rs. 10,000 for purchases up to Rs. 5,000
  • Rs. 20,000 for purchases above Rs. 5,000

The winners will be selected  through a computerized draw every month.

How does the scheme works

For a QR code, look: Verify if there is a QR code on the receipt. This shows that the store is connected to the FBR computer network.

Use the Tax Easy App to confirm: To verify if the invoice is authentic, scan the QR code using the “Tax Easy” smartphone app.

Steer clear of raw receipts: Refuse the store’s handwritten or simple receipt and report the incident if it is provided.

Report False Invoices: Take a clear picture of the dubious invoice, add the name and address of the store or eatery, and then upload the information to the Tax Easy app.
