Four khwarij killed as security forces thwart infiltration attempt on Pak-Afghan border

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by Khwarij through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the military’s media wing said in a statement.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the movement of the group was detected on the night of December 19-20 in the general area of Rajgal, Khyber District.

The troops effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate resulting in the killing of four Khwarij [terrorists].

Furthermore, the ISPR statement said that an armed force personnel, Sepoy Amir Sohail Afridi, a resident of District Khyber, embraced “Shahadat” during the intense fire exchange.

The military’s media wing’s statement reassured Pakistan’s call to the Interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border.

“Interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarij for perpetrating acts of terrorism against Pakistan, it read.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the security forces for killing four Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists, the statement issued by the PM Office’s Press Wing said.

In a statement, the Prime Minister expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Sepoy Amir Sohail Afridi in exchange for fire. He prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal peace to the martyr and patience to the bereaved family.
