ISLAMABAD: The government has abolished the Friday holiday in all governmental departments.

According to the notification issued, all governmental departments will remain open on Friday and it will be observed as full working day.

Earlier, the private schools demanded the abolition of the weekly Friday holiday and said that online classes cannot achieve the desired results.

According to details, in an important meeting of stakeholders of private schools from across Punjab, while considering educational performance and administrative issues, the government has been asked to abolish the weekly Friday holiday.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Qazi Naeem Anjum, discussed various challenges faced by private educational institutions. The meeting was attended by Syed Faisal Gilani, Saleem Awan, Hassan Minhas, and other educationists.

Qazi Naeem Anjum stressed that the desired results cannot be achieved through online classes; for better educational quality, there should be regular classroom teaching for at least 210 days in the academic calendar.

Concern was expressed in the meeting over the delay in printing textbooks, due to which the valuable time of students was wasted. It was demanded that the books be published on time next year.

Private school owners have demanded that the Lahore Board immediately complete the process of extending the affiliation of private schools.

Education experts say that due to the abundance of holidays and administrative delays, there is difficulty in completing the curriculum, which has a direct impact on the results of students. Therefore, reducing weekly holidays is inevitable to make the academic session effective.
