ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi ): In a significant development aimed at strengthening bilateral parliamentary ties, a high-level parliamentary delegation from Russia is scheduled to visit Islamabad next week.
Representatives from both houses of the Russian Parliament will attend the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference being held in Islamabad on November 11 and 12.
According to sources, the delegation will be jointly led by two seasoned and prominent Russian politicians — Senator Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council (Upper House), and Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma (Lower House).
The delegation will also include Vladimir Chizhov, Head of the Russia–Pakistan Friendship Group in the Federation Council. Mr. Chizhov previously visited Islamabad in February this year as part of an international observation mission during Pakistan’s general elections.
In addition to participating in the conference, the Russian delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior members of the Parliament of Pakistan to discuss the promotion of bilateral relations, enhanced parliamentary cooperation, and prospects for constructive partnership within the region.
Diplomatic sources believe the visit will mark a new chapter in parliamentary engagement between Pakistan and Russia, further deepening political, economic, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
