Gilgit-Baltistan Polls 2026: Officials appointed for women, technocrat seats

GILGIT: According to a notification issued by Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan, Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers have been appointed to conduct elections on seats reserved for women and technocrats under the relevant provisions of the Election Act 2017.

According to the Public Relations Department of the Election Commission Secretariat, Gilgit-Baltistan, Secretary Law and Prosecution Rahim Gul has been appointed as the Returning Officer who will be responsible for monitoring the election process and its transparent conduct, while Provincial Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Abid Raza and Deputy Election Commissioner Atiq Ahmed have been appointed as Assistant Returning Officers who will assist the Returning Officer in carrying out election matters.

Chief Election Commissioner Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Shahbaz Khan has said in this regard that the elections will be made completely free, fair, clean and transparent and for this purpose all administrative and legal measures will be taken so that the public’s trust in the democratic process can be further strengthened.
