ISLAMABAD: According to sources, it was agreed in a meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari that smart lockdown will not be implemented at this time.

The proposal for smart lockdown was rejected due to opposition from the provinces. This measure was under consideration to save energy, but no agreement could be reached on it.

The government has decided to adopt alternative measures. The meeting directed to take all possible steps to provide relief to the people under the pressure of inflation.

It was emphasized to ensure the availability of fuel despite the pressure on oil and gas supply. The meeting rejected any proposal to increase the prices of petroleum products.
