LAHORE: The government has started to distribute subsidy payments to eligible recipients who purchase electric motorcycles through the Prime Minister’s “PYO” program.

The Engineering Development Board’s CEO, Hamid Ali Mansoor, announced that the program will distribute 116000 electric vehicles throughout the nation.

The first phase of the program provides subsidies to 41000 recipients who will receive 40000 electric bikes, 1000 rickshaws, and loaders. The second phase will provide subsidies for more than 78000 new electric vehicles.

Hamid Ali Mansoor explained that the government intends to allocate approximately Rs. 9 billion for subsidies through the program during this fiscal year. The program enables students, youth, and women participants to obtain electric bikes through affordable payment plans.

He stated that PYO portal registration serves as the required procedure that applicants must complete to enter the program, while they need to input correct details during online registration.

The registration process and selection process have been developed to function as an entirely electronic system that operates with complete openness.
