ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted light snowfall for the northern highlands of Pakistan, but expects cold, dry conditions to dominate most parts of the country.
The Met Office reports that hilly areas will experience partial cloudiness during the day, and extreme cold weather conditions will develop at night and during the morning.
Gilgit-Baltistan will have isolated areas that experience light rain and snowfall, while Chitral and its nearby valleys will receive short periods of precipitation under overcast skies.
The weather in Islamabad and its nearby regions will remain dry throughout the day, which will bring cold temperatures during both morning and nighttime hours.
The daytime will bring strong winds, which will create gusty conditions. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will face cold, dry weather conditions that will affect most of its areas, but the upper districts will experience their coldest temperatures during the early and late parts of each day.
Punjab will experience dry weather throughout the region, while Murree and Galiyat hill stations will maintain their cold and dry weather conditions. The central and southern plains will experience strong winds during daytime hours. The weather in Karachi and the entire Sindh region will remain mostly dry.
Balochistan will experience dry weather conditions in most of its districts, although northern areas will experience colder nighttime and early morning temperatures.
The Kashmir region will experience cold weather conditions that include partial cloud cover and extremely low temperatures during the night.
The PMD reported that over the past 24 hours, most areas of the country experienced cold, dry weather conditions. The northern regions experienced temperatures that dropped to −9°C in Leh, −5°C in Astore, and −3°C in Kalam.
