ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): A grand ceremony was held to mark the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, highlighting the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Iran. President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari attended the event as the chief guest.
In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari extended warm congratulations to the government and people of Iran on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Iran share a relationship grounded in a common history, language, culture, and geography, which has grown stronger and more dynamic over the years.
The President expressed confidence that this spirit of brotherhood would continue to flourish in the coming years, contributing to the prosperity, stability, and harmony of both nations and the wider region.
President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and maintaining cooperation for regional peace and security.
He also conveyed his prayers for the progress, prosperity, and peace of the Iranian people, along with best wishes for the health and well-being of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
Addressing the gathering, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghadam underscored the importance of strong bilateral relations with Pakistan, describing economic and cultural cooperation as key priorities. In his welcome address at the Iranian Embassy, the ambassador noted that despite external pressures and challenges, Iran has achieved significant progress in technology, defense, science, and economic development.
Dr. Moghadam stressed that Iran does not seek war and believes that conflicts can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He described the Islamic Revolution as a powerful symbol of popular resolve, sovereignty, and independence, and reaffirmed that Pakistan-Iran relations remain deep, historic, and fraternal.
The ceremony emphasized the promotion of Pakistan-Iran historical, religious, and cultural ties. Federal Ministers Jam Kamal Khan, Pir Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, and Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh were among the prominent attendees.
Governors Faisal Karim Kundi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Syed Mehdi Shah of Gilgit-Baltistan were also present.
Former Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, former Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Ghulam Ali Khan, and Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai attended the event and extended congratulations to the Iranian people.
Members of the National Assembly, including Dr. Farooq Sattar, Polain Baloch, Sehar Kamran, and Shaista Khan Jadun, along with Senators Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and Mushahid Hussain Syed, were present.
Leading religious scholars such as Allama Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi, Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Allama Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Allama Ameen Shaheedi, Allama Shabbir Ahmed Maisami, Allama Hasnain Abbas Gardizi, and Allama Ashfaq Wahidi also participated.
Maulana Gulzar Naeemi emphasized the need for unity within the Muslim Ummah.
Prominent social figures including Zamarrud Khan, Jamal Shah, Zeeshan Naqvi, Khanum Tayyaba Bukhari, and Uzma Gul attended the ceremony as well.
Diplomats and ambassadors from various countries participated in large numbers, reflecting international solidarity with the Iranian people.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations and reaffirm solidarity with the people of Iran on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
