LAHORE: The Chief Minister Green Tractor Scheme, also known as the Kisan Tractor Scheme, has been postponed to November 1, 2024, from its original date of October 25, 2024.
This initiative aims to support agricultural production in Punjab by providing financial assistance to farmers through a tractor subsidy program. The scheme’s primary objective is to enhance agricultural practices across the region by subsidizing the cost of modern tractors and promoting the latest farming technologies to increase crop yields.
Over 150,000 people in Punjab applied for the scheme, which offers a subsidy of Rs10lac to selected farmers. CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need to complete the first phase of the scheme within a year and confirmed eligibility for farmers with land holdings of six to 50 acres.
Additionally, CM Maryam Nawaz approved a high-tech mechanization program for local and international collaboration on agricultural equipment and an oilseed promotion initiative. The government has also earmarked a Rs400 billion Kissan Package for farmers to improve agricultural productivity and prosperity.
