GUJARAT: Those who want to get a passport should be careful! A network of fraudsters is active and incidents of defrauding citizens and extorting money have come to light.
According to details, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Gujranwala Zone carried out a major operation in Gujarat and arrested a key operative of a network producing fake travel documents.
Fake passports of dozens of countries, visa stickers and heavy equipment used in the production were recovered from the possession of the accused.
FIA officials said that the operation was carried out in the Zia-ul-Islam area of Gujarat, from where the accused Naseer Ahmed was taken into custody
. Passports of several countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain and Belgium, while fake visa stickers of the United States, Britain, Japan, Turkey and Mexico, as well as passport lamination machines, cutters, drill machines, Kinegram stickers, passport materials, fake identity cards and educational certificates were recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to initial investigation, accused Naseer Ahmed has been involved in this illegal business for the past 7 to 8 years and was collecting huge amounts of money by tricking gullible citizens into sending them abroad.
Authorities have revealed that there is a strong suspicion that officials of several government agencies are also involved in this vast network.
Authorities say that the scope of the investigation has been expanded so that other facilitators and government employees involved in this nefarious business can also be brought to justice.
A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation has been initiated and more important arrests are expected soon.
