Heatwave grips Pakistan as rain chances remain limited

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has said that the weather is expected to remain hot and dry in most parts of the country tonight, however, there is a possibility of rain at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir with strong winds and thundershowers.

According to the report, the weather is expected to remain hot and dry in Islamabad and its surroundings on Thursday. Partly cloudy skies are likely to prevail in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the weather is expected to remain hot and dry in most districts of Punjab, while extremely hot weather is likely to prevail in the southern districts.

Wheat harvest likely to get affected due to extreme weather conditions

Dry/partly cloudy skies are expected in Murree and Galiyat. The weather is expected to remain hot and dry in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, apart from partly cloudy skies in the upper districts, light rain with strong winds and thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Kurram, Waziristan, Parachinar and its surroundings. The weather is likely to remain extremely hot and dry in most districts of Sindh.

However, strong/dusty winds are expected in the central/southern districts in the afternoon. The weather is likely to remain hot and dry in most districts of Balochistan while it is likely to remain extremely hot in the southern districts. Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain partly cloudy with light rain at a few places along with strong winds and thundershowers. Today’s maximum temperature was recorded at Turbat, Shaheed Benazirabad 46, Skrand 45, Dadu, Lasbela and Mohenjo Daro 44 degrees Celsius.
