DUBAI: A United Arab Emirates official told CNN on Wednesday that the country is not currently considering leaving any multilateral organization. The statement came after the UAE’s decision to withdraw from OPEC sparked speculation that it could also withdraw from other global organizations.

According to the American broadcaster ‘CNN’, the UAE has rejected speculation that it could also withdraw from other global or regional organizations after leaving OPEC.

Emirati officials told CNN that the country is currently reviewing its global partnerships and role in various organizations, but no decision to leave any organization is under consideration. The official did not name any specific organization, but referred to all international organizations in general.

The clarification came after the UAE announced its withdrawal from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The decision raised various questions in global energy markets and diplomatic circles.

According to officials, the current policy is not aimed at weakening global partnerships, but at reviewing them according to their usefulness and national interests. They said that membership in all international organizations is currently intact and there is no intention of any withdrawal.

According to the report, the announcement of the withdrawal from OPEC came during an emergency meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Emirati officials described the meeting as a positive development but also said that the current regional situation is still complex and uncertain, which requires further diplomatic efforts.

The UAE is currently a member of several regional and international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League. The country is also a key ally of the United States and has also expanded its relations with Israel in recent years.

It should be noted that yesterday, the UAE announced its withdrawal from the 65-year-old organization of oil-producing countries, OPEC, which controls about 40 percent of the world’s total crude oil production and has a profound impact on global energy prices.

The United Arab Emirates said in a statement on Tuesday that it would withdraw from the organization on Friday.
