New petrol prices to be announced on Friday: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that petroleum prices will undergo another adjustment on Friday, while he suggested that fuel prices might increase.

The Prime Minister announced to the cabinet members that global oil prices at present have reached record highs, which create extraordinary difficulties for the nation, and they will need to adjust petroleum prices yet again on the upcoming Friday.

Shehbaz Sharif declared that Pakistan spent $300 million every week on oil imports before the war, but currently its weekly oil import expenses have reached $800 million.

He stated that Pakistan managed to repay $3.5 billion in foreign debt, despite facing economic pressures from multiple fronts. He expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its economic assistance, while he recognized the petroleum minister’s contributions.

The prime minister mentioned that discussions are currently taking place to maintain subsidies for public transportation and various other industries.

The investigation examined the privatization activities of Pakistan International Airlines. He stated that patriotic citizens who love their homeland will stand together and fight through any of Pakistan’s difficulties that appear throughout its history.

He stated that Pakistan assumed a major responsibility when it supported peace negotiations between the United States and Iran, which took place in Islamabad.

He stated that the April 11 and 12 session, which lasted 21 hours, together with the work of the field marshal and foreign minister, and Mohsin Naqvi, enabled the team to maintain their ceasefire agreement. He announced that Abbas Araghchi traveled to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia and will provide his answer after he checks with his superiors.
