ISLAMABAD: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) held a seminar in Islamabad for the conservation of the endangered species Houbara bustard, aka Hūbrā Tilor, where the participants called upon the authorities to ensure the preservation and reproduction of the species.

The decline in the population of the Houbara Bustard is very concerning, especially the Indian Houbara, which is only 35 in number right now in the country, as noted by the WWF official.

The government lacks all-inclusive data on the presence of the various breeds of the Houbara Bustard in the country, the official stated.

The participants emphasized an urgent and speedy policy for the breeding and hunting of the Houbara. Other species like the blackbuck and Indus dolphin, are also on the verge of being extinct.

Experts from WWF stressed that the successful conservation of houbara bustards and other wildlife species is possible with the right scientific study and government support.
