LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched a new program called “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar Scheme”. Under this scheme, it has been announced to provide access to government land to about 50,000 farmers so that they can increase their income through agricultural activities.

The aim of this project is to economically strengthen landless farmers and low-income people. Some basic conditions have also been laid down in this scheme so that only deserving people can benefit from it.

According to the eligibility, the person applying must be landless or can own a maximum of ten marla residential plot. Apart from this, he must be a permanent resident of the same revenue area where the land is available.

A family will be eligible for only one allotment. People who have previously obtained land or lease under any government scheme will not be able to join this program. Employees of government or semi-government institutions and their dependents will also not be eligible for this scheme.

The mode of application has also been clarified. After the schedule is released, candidates can submit their applications through the online portal PELRA website. Apart from this, they can also apply in the office of their respective Assistant Commissioner.

A special committee will scrutinize the applications. After the list of all eligible candidates is prepared, it will be published on the website for computerized balloting and will also be displayed in the offices.

The selection process will be completely through computerized drawing of lots to maintain transparency. After the final list of successful candidates is released, allotment orders will be issued by the Assistant Commissioner and the land will be handed over to them.
