Hyundai has unveiled the eighth-generation Elantra sedan at the 2026 Busan Auto Show in South Korea, where the model is sold as the Avante, featuring a completely redesigned exterior, a larger body, a more spacious cabin, and upgraded technology.
The Hyundai Elantra’s completely reimagined outer shell has been penned with Hyundai’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design language, resulting in edgier lines, more aggressive fenders with a flared design as well as flat door handles that retract at your touch.
Headlights and taillights both take on an ‘H’ shape
While the Elantra is 55 mm longer at 4,650 mm than the previous generation, its width grew by 30 mm at 1,825 mm, and the wheelbase is stretched to 2,750 mm (+30 mm).
Hyundai states its larger dimensions bring interior space closer to that of a mid-size car. It also boasts a next-gen Android-based infotainment called ‘Pleos’ that works across screens measuring 12.9 inches for all cars and optionally 14.6 inches in the most equipped models.
Dual wireless charger spots, ambiance lighting, and a column-mounted gear selector that retains a certain number of tactile controls. When it comes up for sale in South Korea, two powertrain options will be available.
The non-turbo 2.0-liter gasoline engine, now pumping out 147 hp (an increase of 25 hp compared to the predecessor), will get customers 55 mph in the gas-only version, although a 1.6-liter engine with a 155-hp hybrid powertrain will be optional, making its way out into the open today.
Hyundai says this hybrid offers cutting-edge regenerative braking, as well as an all-new Stay Mode feature to send all that EV-like juice through.
