Increase in salaries of govt employees & armed forces personnel notified: Details inside

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Division has issued a notification to increase the salary of government employees for the financial year 2024-25, here on Tuesday.

As per the details, an office memorandum issued by the division said that the President has ordered all employees of the federal government, i.e. personnel of the armed forces, civil armed forces, and civil servants of the federal government, as well as civilians paid from defense estimates.

Adhoc Relief Allowance 2024 has been approved for and contract employees were employed on standard terms and conditions of contract appointment in basic pay scales to civil posts.

Salary increase for govt employees from July 2024

Under the Adhoc relief, the salaries of the govt employees in grades 1 to 16 have been increased by 25 percent of the running basic pay, while the employees in grades 17 to 22 have been increased by 20 percent in the running basic pay.

The amount of Adhoc relief allowance will be subject to income tax. The memorandum states that this leave will be admissible during the entire period of leave and LPR except for exceptional leave.

It shall not be treated as part of wages for the purpose of calculation of pension/gratuity and recovery of house rent. It shall not be admissible to employees during their period of posting/deputation abroad.

Meanwhile, the Finance Division has also approved a 15 percent hike in the salaries of retired government employees.
