Interior Minister confirms ISIS link in Islamabad Blast

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi told a press conference that the blast that took place in Islamabad yesterday was a very sad incident that shook everyone.

He said that the mastermind of the attack is associated with the banned ISIS and is now in our custody. CTD and other security agencies have arrested the facilitators and masterminds associated with the incident, while one official was martyred and several others were injured during the raids conducted in Peshawar and Nowshera.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the terrorists were trained in Afghanistan and the attack was also planned from there. The funding of the terrorists is being done by India, which has also increased in recent months.

The Interior Minister said that the previous budget was $500, now $1500 is being given and India has increased the terrorism budget three times after its failure in May, however, Pakistan is fully prepared to prevent this incident.

He appealed to the public to cooperate with the intelligence community as the country is in a state of war. The Interior Minister clarified that terrorist organizations are operating from Afghanistan and attacks against Pakistan are being carried out systematically.

He said that four terrorists have been caught after the Islamabad blast and two people had done recce before the blast.

Mohsin Naqvi also warned social media platforms that further steps will be taken if accounts involved in terrorist activities are not closed.

The Interior Minister said that Islamabad has 93 entry points and 80 percent of the police personnel in the Red Zone are above the age of 50, which creates security challenges.

The Interior Minister also said that terrorist organizations and facilitators are carrying out operations together, and there are no categories of enemies, those who plan against Pakistan will be dealt with at every possible level.

He said that Pakistan has so far foiled the conspiracies of terrorists by preventing 99 blasts and these operations will continue in the future as well.
