Interior Ministry notifies ban on TLP

ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has issued a notification banning Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) following the approval from the federal cabinet.

Following the Interior Ministry’s notification, TLP has now been declared a banned party.

The notification states that the federal government has solid reasons that TLP is involved in terrorist activities.

The notification states that, according to the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, TLP has been included in the list of banned parties under the First Schedule.

The notification of the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan has also been sent to all provinces and relevant institutions, including the Ameer TLP and the Election Commission.

Sources say that the Law Ministry has also initiated legal action to ban TLP.

After consulting the Law Ministry and the Attorney General, a reference will be filed in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court will review the evidence on the reference like a criminal trial and decide on the ban.

According to the Constitution, if a political party acts against the security and unity of the country, it can be banned.

In this case, the ban on the political party can be imposed under Clause 2 of Article 17.

According to Article 17, the ban on a political party is not confirmed until the Supreme Court gives a decision.

The government sends a reference to the Supreme Court within 15 days after the ban decision.

The ban on a political party registered under the Constitution will be fully implemented with the Supreme Court’s decision.

It should be remembered that a few days ago, the Punjab cabinet approved the ban on TLP and sent its summary to the federal government.
