Islamabad: An investigation into the leakage of citizens’ data by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been completed.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament ordered the investigation into the cyberattack that occurred in March 2023, compromising personal information, including that of military officials.

A joint investigation team, led by FIA Director Cybercrime, was formed to probe the incident. The team has concluded its inquiry and initiated departmental and disciplinary actions against those responsible for the negligence.

Following the completion of the investigation, the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar received the report and directed NADRA to take actions based on the findings and recommendations.

The report proposes measures aimed at safeguarding citizens’ data, including regulatory actions and technology upgrades. Compliance measures have already been launched in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directives.
