Karachi: Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram shed light on the reasons behind the low crowd turnout at Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 fixtures held in Karachi.

Despite entertaining matches at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium during the PSL 2024 season, the attendance has been notably lower compared to matches in Lahore and Multan.

During the A Sports show ‘The Pavilion’, hosted by Fakhar-e-Alam with panelists including Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Azhar Ali, a video was shared depicting the team’s attempt to reach the stadium for the game. However, they were unable to do so due to traffic and security arrangements.

Wasim Akram expressed frustration over the difficulty of reaching the National Bank Stadium, describing it as a nightmare. He mentioned being stuck in traffic for 90 minutes and ultimately returning to the studio without reaching the venue.

In a sarcastic tone, the legendary cricketer remarked that containers, often used as barriers for security purposes, are considered the ideal solution for problems. He also highlighted the realization that such issues contribute to the low turnout of spectators.

Fakhar-e-Alam, in a caption accompanying the video, emphasized the challenges faced in reaching the National Stadium Karachi, describing it as a terrible experience.

He called for authorities to devise a sensible traffic flow plan, citing the widespread closure of routes with containers leading to massive traffic congestion as a deterrent for fans. He concluded by stating that the inability to access the stadium is a significant factor contributing to the absence of crowds in Karachi.
