ISLAMABAD: In a joint effort to implement construction laws, the district administration of Islamabad and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) carried out a mass drive in the Hostel City zone and the teams sealed 30 buildings that had violated the sanctioned building codes.
The operation was conducted under the charge of Assistant Commissioner Nilore. The spokesman of the ICT administration said the buildings had persistently defied legal notices issued in the last few weeks.
The sealed properties had been given several warnings for non-compliance, but they proceeded to build and use contrary to regulations, a CDA spokesperson stated. The spokesperson continued that even with repeated reminders, the owners did not correct the violations.
The illegal extensions and encroachments in the surrounding area were also dismantled during the operation by the teams. These buildings, according to reports, were built without permission and were causing congestion and safety issues within the area.
On-ground assistance during the action was facilitated by Islamabad Police to maintain order and smooth execution. Security officials stayed on the scene throughout the operation to prevent interference or resistance.
The raid is a part of a concerted drive by the CDA and district administration to make sure that development in the city continues within permissible norms. Officials state such raids will carry on against properties that do not follow building regulations.
A CDA spokesperson stated that building code violations are not only undermining safety but also adding extra stress to the city’s infrastructure. The spokesperson emphasized that developers and owners need to apply for the correct approvals and comply with regulations when developing or renovating buildings.
Officials warned that non-compliance would have tougher penalties, ranging from legal action to demolition or permanent sealing of buildings. The operation in Hostel City is being seen as a clear message to other offenders in the capital.
The district administration has asked the people to inform the authorities about any illegal construction in their localities so that order and planned progress in Islamabad can be maintained.
