ISLAMABAD: The date for submitting nomination papers for the local body elections in Islamabad has been extended.
According to a spokesperson for the Election Commission, candidates participating in the local body elections will be able to submit their papers until December 30.
The last date for submitting nomination papers was December 27.
It should be noted that yesterday was the last day for issuing and submitting nomination papers for the local body elections in Islamabad.
According to the Election Commission, the administration in Islamabad has declared a holiday today due to the visit of the President of the United Arab Emirates, but the issuance and collection of nomination papers for the local body elections will be as usual from 8:30 am to 8 pm.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had suspended the local government elections in Quetta.
According to a notification issued by the Election Commission, the local government elections in Quetta have been suspended on a court order.
The local government elections to be held on December 28 have been postponed until further notice.
Earlier, the Federal Constitutional Court had suspended the local government elections to be held in Quetta on December 28, 2025.
The court issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan, Mansoor Usman Awan, the Election Commission, and others and sought a written response.
