ISLAMABAD: New business operating hours have come into effect in the federal capital from June 1, 2026, under a government notification aimed at energy conservation and regulation of commercial activities.
According to the notification, all markets and shopping malls in Islamabad will now close at 8:00 PM. However, pharmacies, hospitals, and medical stores have been exempted from the restrictions and will continue to operate as usual.
The notification further states that petrol pumps and CNG stations will remain open according to their normal schedules.
Restaurants, food outlets, tandoors, grocery stores, vegetable and fruit shops, as well as bakeries, will be allowed to operate until 10:00 PM before closing for the day.
In addition, marriage halls and marquees have been directed to conclude operations and close by 10:00 PM.
The new regulations officially came into force on June 1, 2026.
