Islamabad police discover suspicious bag near PTI rally site, heightens security

ISLAMABAD: A suspicious bag was discovered near the location of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Sangjani, Islamabad, prompting the police to call in the bomb disposal squad for inspection. Security has been increased at the rally venue to prevent potential threats as a precautionary measure.

The PTI rally showcasing the party’s political strength is scheduled for today in Islamabad. Party leaders have already visited the venue, and preparations are complete.

The district administration has granted conditional approval for the rally, stipulating that it must conclude by 7 pm and not disrupt business or public movement.

In addition, PTI leadership has instructed members to arrive with a significant number of workers, with those from nearby constituencies expected to bring at least 500 workers.

Attendees have been directed to reach the venue by 2 pm, and leaders from surrounding areas are expected to bring additional workers to the event.

Moreover, Islamabad’s Red Zone has been sealed with containers at all entry and exit points. Only authorized individuals can enter through Margalla Road.

  • Motorway entry at 26th toll plaza
  • Khanh Pul area on the expressway (causing heavy traffic jams)
  • Murree Road at Faizabad area
  • Route from Rawat T-Chowk to Rawalpindi
  •  Faizabad interchange

Only authorized personnel are allowed to pass through the designated entry point.
