Islamabad sets up Eid livestock markets, ends CDA Friday holiday!

ISLAMABAD: In view of Eid-ul-Adha, government livestock markets have been established at 6 locations in the federal capital, where arrangements are being completed to ensure the provision of facilities to citizens and traders.

According to the district administration, the assistant commissioners visited various livestock markets and made a detailed review of parking, clean water supply, cleanliness and other arrangements. The officials also inspected the traffic flow on the highways adjacent to the markets so that citizens do not face any difficulties in transportation.

During the visit, the availability of basic facilities including electricity in the markets was also reviewed. The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad issued instructions that traders coming from remote areas should be provided with all possible facilities in the markets.

The DC Islamabad clarified that buying and selling of livestock will not be allowed at any location other than government markets. He said that in case of temporary markets being established on the highways, a response will be sought from the concerned assistant commissioners. The district administration has appealed to the citizens to buy sacrificial animals only from government cattle markets.

On the other hand, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ended the Friday holiday for the employees of the Engineering Wing, according to the issued notification, the work from home facility for the officers and staff of the Engineering Wing on Friday has also been withdrawn.

The notification states that the Engineering Wing is responsible for important matters like street lights, traffic signals, road repairs, building maintenance and storm water drainage system, hence attendance will be ensured on Friday for effective supervision of daily operations.
