ISLAMABAD: The 5th Implementation Committee unanimously accepted the master plan for the eco-restoration of the Margalla Viewpoint project, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) announced on Friday.

The attempts to turn the Margalla Hills into a flourishing environment and a well-liked tourist attraction have reached a major turning point with this noteworthy breakthrough.

The master plan, created by architect Imrana Tiwana in partnership with the Islamabad-based Architect DB Studio, is the outcome of careful preparation and cooperation from all parties involved, according to an IWMB spokeswoman.

IWMB’s Chairperson said, “The approval of the master plan marks a significant milestone in our efforts to restore the Margalla Hills ecosystem. We are committed to creating a thriving green space that benefits both the environment and the community,”

In addition to restoring the Margalla Hills’ natural beauty, the proposal calls for a green area that offers locals and visitors a distinctive leisure area.

The master plan’s main features include strolling trails, promenades, and a reflecting pool as well as an eco-display area, an outdoor amphitheater, a children’s play area, an older seating area, a prayer area, a visitor center, offices, and parking spaces.

In response to a question, the IWMB representative informed APP that the debris from the destroyed mega-restaurants has been cleared out and that lantana clearance and rewilding of the area will start as soon as the next rainy season arrives.

According to him, WWF Pakistan will start gathering money for the project, and construction is anticipated to start shortly. The Environment Protection Agency will review and approve the master plan and completed Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
