ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami will hold nationwide protests against petroleum levy today.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem has said that the government is robbing the pockets of the poor by imposing a levy of Rs 117 and a tax of Rs 50 on petrol.

He said that instead of ending their lavish spending, the rulers are squeezing the blood of the people under the pressure of the IMF. Until the people take to the streets, these cruel elites and IPP mafias will continue to loot the country.

He said that traders, industrialists, farmers, transporters and youth should participate in the protests in full, today’s protest will be the first phase of the decisive movement starting after Eid.
