LAHORE: Pakistan’s Test squad for the tour of the West Indies and England is likely to be announced next week.

According to media reports, the national selectors sat for final consultation this week, but the squad was not announced. The national squad was not announced due to the fitness problems of the players.

Reports say that due to the fitness problems of the players, more players were called to the red ball camp. Abdullah Shafiq, Kamran Ghulam, Hamza Nazar, Rohail Nazir and Arafat Minhas joined the red ball camp, while work is being done on the recovery of Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel.

The players suffering from fitness problems included in the red ball camp will be assessed next week. After the assessment, the test squad will be announced. The red ball camp will also end with the announcement of the test squad.

Players have been called to back up Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Rizwan and they have not been dropped from the team. Ali Usman among the spinners is also a candidate to join the squad.
