ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan has been called on September 26 to consult on the formulation of rules to evaluate the performance of High Court judges.
According to the report, the meeting will consult on the formulation of rules. The last meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Justice Jamal Mandokhel.
It was decided by a majority in the meeting that the Judicial Commission can also look into the matter to formulate rules.
In the past, various bar councils and civil society have emphasized that, along with the appointment of judges, it is also necessary to set standards for their performance so that transparency and public confidence in the judicial system can be further strengthened.
However, clear rules or procedures have not been formulated in this regard yet. Now, the recent steps of the Judicial Commission are being described as a significant step in this direction.
