LAHORE: In a tragic incident, Journalist and social critic Syed Muzammil Shah’s residence in Lahore came under attack on Tuesday night when two of his neighbors opened aerial fire while attempting to break into his home.

Someone from my neighbor’s house, who apparently took offense at my recent political views, came into my home on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Muzammil Shah announced the news one day after the assault, writing, “Two armed men from an around 5:30 PM yesterday in my absence.”

In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, “Drop scene of Imran Khan’s Final Call,” Syed Muzammil Shah criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its violent approach to the federal capital in response to the “final call” of Imran Khan, the party’s founder.

Furthermore, Muzammil attacked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration for its handling of the former ruling party’s protest march, saying,

Muzammil also attacked the administration of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for how they handled the protest march of the former ruling party, claiming, “You (Mohsin Naqvi) shut down all of Punjab, and they (PTI convoy) were supposed to come from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

Furthermore, Shah said in his vlog that the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) share a fascist ideology, classifying them as part of the same group: “It is intra-fascist conflict.”

Shah expressed his annoyance, stating, “The main culprit, Naveed, is still at large who openly threatened to gun me down,” even though two First Information Reports (FIRs) had been filed.

“The government should be held accountable if I or my family are hurt,” he continued.

The act was denounced by social commentators and the Pakistan’s journalist community.
